Should you continue to wear a mask even when COVID restrictions are being gradually loosened up across the United States?
Even if laws requiring people to wear masks no longer exist, there are still some standards that experts recommend you adhere to.
First, according to the new guideline provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), those who may have been exposed to someone infected with COVID-19 should test themselves after five days and continue to wear a high-quality N95 masks for the next ten days.
Those who test positive but stop their seclusion after only five days will be required to continue wearing a mask until day 10, with one exception.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggests that if you have access to antigen tests, “you should think about using them.”
In the guidance, it is said that if you have two consecutive negative tests that are separated by 48 hours, you may remove your NIOSH N95 face mask earlier than day 10. Additionally, if the results of your antigen test are positive, it is stated that “you may still be infectious.”
Those who continue to have positive test results should keep covering their faces.
